Abstract:
The Aurora Incremental Modernization Project (AIMP) is an upgrade project
consisting of 23 subprojects grouped into 4 major groupings. It is taking
an iterative approach to development and production with a minimum impact
to the Aircraft fleet operation.
Because of the complexity of the project, staff members have had to rely on "best practices" provided by the PMBOK and the Software Engineering Institute's (SEI's) newly developed Capability Maturity Model - Integrated (CMMI). The project office has undergone an assessment of its internal processes against the CMMI, determined improvements necessary to reduce cost and schedule risk and is implementing these improvements in a prioritized manner.
