DATE: January 18, 2000 PLACE: Rideau Room, Sheraton Hotel, 150 Albert Street SPEAKER: Dr. Khaled El Emam, National Research Council Managers and measurement practitioners often struggle with decisions about what measures to collect and how to analyze them. As part of a larger study on what it takes to establish a successful measurement program, we identified what software organizations measure first, how this relates to the (measurement) order defined in the SW-CMM, and whether those that follow closely the SW-CMM ordering are more successful with their measurement than those who depart from the SW-CMM ordering. These results will be presented. In addition to knowing what to measure and in what order, implementing measurement requires a process to follow. This talk will also present the ISO software measurement process and how to apply it. This process served as a basis for the Measurement & Analysis Process Area in the new CMMI.
